Portugal’s LAN hopes resting on BlinD Faith!

Recently EUeSports got the chance to catch up with well known Portugese
community and TUGA3L!T player David “BlinD-pT” Iglesias. TUGA3L!T are a
well known Portugese team on EUeSports and BlinD posts actively here on
the EUeSports forums and is always willing to help members out. With
BlinD looking to attend EGL 4 with a team of Portugese players such as
Nigh7 and Rampage EUeSports caught up with him to get his views on the
current dramas circulating EUeSports at the moment.

EUeSports: Thanks for taking time out to do this. Firstly why don’t you give us a quick introduction about yourself?

BlinD:
Hi my name's David and I'm a Portuguese player.
I'm an average student as I barely study, as I'm very lazy for
everything I don't like. I have some hobbies like hanging out with my
friends and schoolmates, playing football or volleyball and (of course)
playing videogames. I started to play in Call of Duty: World at War but
never had the chance to play it competitively. I'm actually glad I
didn't had the chance xD
Only made the move to the competitive side on MW2 but I was a very bad
player (even more then I am nowadays) so I wasn't very 'into'
competitive gaming back then. I only had UMP classes with lightweight
always rushing. In Black Ops I started to realize I had to change my
gaming type to improve, and that's what I did, and it's probably the
reason why I am in one of the best (Portuguese) teams.

EUeSports:
You currently represent the Portugese team TUGA3L!T. How is this
developing for you and what's the chemistry like with your teammates?

BlinD:
I'm very
happy with the team, I'm only the latest member to join this family.
They have been together since Call of Duty 4 which is what has impressed
me the most when I had to choose in which team to continue my gaming
career, despite some good offers I have chosen them for that family
spirit that they have between them.
Also very happy how the way things are going in game, as we managed to
get the team more active, more participative and stronger, aswell as
more regular.
We are more then just teammates, it's true friendship now I can definitely trust them and I’m sure they feel the same with me.

EUeSports:
In an exciting development for yourself and Portugese eSports on the
PS3 you are currently planning to attend the biggest console LAN in
Europe, EGL 4 in London with a group of all star Portugese players. Tell
us about this plan?

BlinD:
Yeah at the beginning the objective was to
attend EGL with my team, but many of them are joining college now or are
just too young to go to England by themselves.
After realizing that I decided to talk to other Portuguese gamers
specially from top teams from both PS3 and Xbox360. I've started to talk
to Nigh7Hawk14 one of the best (if not the best) players in Portugal
and he basically said let's do it xD
The team will be me, Nigh7hawk and Rampage from Pew Pew. We are still
trying to find a 4th that could be bluefran, akznx (both from XPX) or
Silent_Player, who is a player of Pew Pew like Nigh7 and Rampage. Oh
yeah and we want to prove that we don't win matches due to connection
only xD

EUeSports: Do
you feel a sense of rivalry with other Portugese PS3 teams such as Pew
Pew, iMortalz, Difference and Element. Or are you all friends and play
together actively?

BlinD:
We are rivals of course, but it's a very healthy
rivalry. We want to win the matches but we are all friends, have some
great friends in those teams (like Element_Windy) and I always hope they
succeed except when facing us. If I had to choose between some teams to
be my rival I had to go with XPX (that are in Xbox360 right now) as
they are the best Portuguese team nowadays. To be the best, you have to
beat the best.

EUeSports:
On to the hot topic of anything related to foreigners on EUeS.
Connection! What's your take on this and how do you feel when the UK
community for having a questionable connection/host singles out teams in
Portugal?

BlinD:
It pisses me off a bit, especially when they used to complain with
Element who is a very friendly team. I don't like when people don't
recognize that they were simply outplayed. But sometimes I can
understand why they complain with some teams, as I've just played with
La Elite now for GB and their host was giving 2 bars to 2players of
them, they were sliding all over the map and it's impossible to play in a
connection like that. It's fair to complain to some connection but I
think that some UK players are not used to deal with it as much as we
(foreign players) are.
Lately there weren't so many teams complaining with Portuguese
connection as I believe the most of us try to use their best host to
provide a fair game to the other team. I can guarantee that we
(TUGA3L!T) pew pew or Element are always going to use the best host
available.

EUeSports: Do
you feel that foreign teams and connections are singled out and find it
unfair when you play a team and they accuse you of lag switching, host
riding, sponging etc when you have picked your best host possible and
are simply trying to play the game fair?

BlinD:
It just makes me sad
when people blame it all in the connection. That only happened to me
when we defeated Unearthly's team recently and he completely raged into
me, even with the best host we had (which was giving them 3 bars and 4
to unearthly sometimes). They are a great team and Unearthly is probably
one of the best individuals playing on the PS3 scene but I got
disappointed as he didn't recognized that my team played very well
against them.
But that situation isn't as bad as some that happen with the Spanish
where they talk about lag switch and whatsoever. I can't talk about lag
switch as I don't know how to use it or even how to spot it when it's
smoothly used.

EUeSports: You have a good reputation on the forums always friendly and helping out members. Do you pride
yourself on good forum behaviour?

BlinD:
What makes me proud
it's not the reputation I have, it's if I can really help someone or
the whole community to improve. I hate online trolls because in real
life they don't act like they were in online. I appreciate that people
recognize that I try, first to write in proper english and second that I
try to be friendly

EUeSports: Recently
after a good win in a ODC one well known EUeS staff member accused you
of being 'pathetic' by camping in "plant pots" to hold a lead in CTF. Do
you have a response to that?

BlinD:
FUCK U UNEARTHLY (joking xD)
It was a very important match for us, even if it was a simple ODC we
never had been so close to win to such a good team. I totally admit I
did that, we were in a 3v1 situation and I made the smartest thing to
do...plus I only realized that doing that is dirty when unearthly
decided to call it pathetic.
That kind of reaction is the one that I dislike, I believe that if they
had won I would have been much more friendly and would probably tell us
that it was a GG, but as we managed to beat him and his team, he decided
to call us that, which makes me a bit sad, but if that is his opinion, I
have to deal with it. Don't agree but I have to accept.

EUeSports: What would you like to see improve on EUeS for the future?

BlinD:
I believe that EUeSports has a rocksolid
structure can't really see anything to be improved, anything that
doesn't go well isn't due to the staff or the website, it's mainly from
other teams issues, I'm very happy with the website and it's staff.

EUeSports: Well thanks very much for the interview, any last words/shoutouts you'd like to give?

BlinD:
Shoutouts to all my teammates, to Nigh7 and
Rampage for trying to attend EGL, to all the fair Portuguese teams and
players, for Mark as he's probably the nicest guy I've met in EUeS and
for you Starry for the interview Portugal’s LAN hopes resting on BlinD Faith! Smile Thanks!

Thanks to David for the interview and we wish him and TUGA3L!T the very
best for the future here on EUeSports. We also wish his EGL 4 team the
best of luck as it would be great to see foreign players follow in Tojor
footsteps in attending a UK LAN on PS3.
